The North Dakota legislature’s Health Care Reform Review Committee met on Wednesday in Bismarck to determine how to proceed after the Affordable Care Act was upheld by the Supreme Court. Here is a story on the meeting from the Bismarck Tribune.
One of the issues before the committee was whether or not to push for the state legislature to establish a state-run health insurance exchange, allowing for the state exchange to be customized to the state’s needs or to let the federal government set up and run the exchange as a one-size fits all approach. Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota believes that North Dakota health care decisions should be made in North Dakota, not Washington and is advocating for a state-run exchange.
