Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota employees raise funds for diabetes walk

By Denise Pinkney
Last November, a family member of mine was diagnosed with diabetes. This year, I decided to take part in the Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes event for the first time. I wasn’t the only person at Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota to get involved.

Employees formed six teams and competed to see which team could raise the most money. On Saturday, Oct. 13, more than 70 employees and family members took part in the walk in Fargo. We were thrilled to learn BCBSND received the Top Corporate Team Award for raising the most funds.

BCBSND employees raise money for the diabetes walk.

“BCBSND raised an amazing combined total of $11,687.79 for the walk,” said Stephanie Chimeziri, American Diabetes Association associate director serving North Dakota and Northwestern Minnesota.  “Our organization — and those affected by diabetes — cannot thank you enough for your hard work and support. Your efforts are truly inspirational!”

The preliminary event total is $94, 752.05.
