1,000 shoes to be donated to kids

By Ryan Schuster

Thanks to the nearly 9,000 people who registered for last weekend’s Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota Friday Night 5K and individual donations, we will be able to give away 1,000 shoes to Fargo area kids again this year.

One dollar from each 5K participant’s registration fees will go towards the new shoes, with matching funds provided by Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota and the Dakota Medical Foundation.

We would like to thank everyone who participated in the 5K or made donations to the Shoes for Kids program for helping us put shoes on the feet of deserving local children. We would also like to thank everyone for another great 5K and a great collaboration with the    Fargo Marathon. We had a great group of runners and walkers, a great turnout at the event and a wonderful Fargo Marathon weekend (check out our Facebook photo album for some photos of the 5K). Thanks again!
