Three North Dakota cities receive Playful City USA designation

By Ryan Schuster

Bismarck, Fargo and West Fargo are three of 217 cities from 43 states that have received the 2013 Playful City USA designation to honor local commitment to play and physical activity.

Playful City USA is a national recognition program from the nonprofit KaBOOM! group that promotes local policies and programs supporting physical activity. The 217 Playful City USA cities are eligible to apply for grants from the program to help communities build playgrounds.

As The Official Sponsor of Recess, Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota applauds the three North Dakota communities for their commitment to play and physical activity and encourages other communities in the state to look for ways to help children live healthier lives. We are working together with local communities in the state to create opportunities for daily, healthy physical activity.

We think it’s time recess was brought back for North Dakotans of all ages. What are you doing to help encourage physical activity in your community?
