Sitting at a desk all day long at work can be hazardous to your health. Some employers have started adapting office spaces to cut down on health impacts from employees sitting while at work, using standing desks or inflatable balls instead of chairs.
If you sit for long periods during the day at work, here are some quick exercises you can do during a break to move around and reduce the physical toll on your body:
Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota staff will be demonstrating some of these desk exercises or “deskercises” during the Streets Alive event on Sunday (here’s the Forum story on Streets Alive). We will have a booth set up with a mock office in Participation Parkway at Davy Memorial Park in Moorhead during Streets Alive, which runs from noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
