Boxes of new Nike running shoes were delivered to seven West Fargo elementary schools yesterday as part of the Shoes for Kids program that will donate 1,000 shoes to 30 elementary schools in the Fargo-Moorhead community in the coming weeks.
We participated in a kickoff event for this year’s Shoes for Kids giveaway yesterday at Freedom Elementary in West Fargo. This is a great program that is helping many children who otherwise wouldn’t have proper running shoes live healthier and happier lives.
For each registration for the May 17 Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota Friday Night 5K, $1 was donated to the Shoes for Kids program. We provided matching funds for the registration donations along with the Dakota Medical Foundation. Separate donations to the program also helped reach the goal of giving away 1,000 shoes to deserving children in the Fargo-Moorhead community for the second year in a row.
We are proud to participate in the Shoes for Kids program and we plan to continue our partnership with the Fargo Marathon and Dakota Medical Foundation for years to come. We believe that all children, regardless of economic background, should have access to resources to help them get active and stay healthy.
