Wild Hog Half Marathon provides opportunity to be active

Pouring rain and 50-degree temperatures didn’t stop participants at the second annual Wild Hog Half Marathon and 10K race in Grand Forks and East Grand Forks on Saturday, Sept. 28.

Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota is proud to be one of the event’s official sponsors and salutes all the participants who braved the inhospitable weather. The two-day event includes a 5K walk/run on Friday and 10K, half-marathon as well as two-person and three-person half-marathon relays on Saturday.

Several of our employees handed out cheer signs, lip balm and cards with the YouTube.com/BlueCrossND URL for deskercises at the fitness expo on Friday.

The race’s finish line stands out as one of the best in the area. On Saturday, three employees from our Grand Forks District Marketing Office were among the volunteers who handed out food to rain-soaked runners as they crossed the finish line. Other volunteers passed out Mylar blankets and medals.

Three members of our Fargo District Marketing Office competed in the three-person relay team and finished second.

As The Official Sponsor of Recess, Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota supports events that provide an opportunity for North Dakotans to become physically active.

Keep up the good work, Grand Forks! And may the weather be less wild next year.
