Valentine’s Day date ideas to get your heart pumping

Need some help planning a memorable date for Valentine’s Day?  Consider these suggestions from Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota Wellness Consultant Lori Howard for a fun, fitness-themed date.

“Simply doing new things together as a couple ignites the same circuit as does falling in love,” Lori says.

Depending on the weather, you can cross country ski, snowshoe or go sledding, Lori says. Check with area stables to see if horse park trails are available. Shutterbugs, you can hike or snowshoe as part of a photo expedition for two as you capture the breathtakingly beautiful winter landscape.

Weather permitting, a winter picnic with a hot soup in thermos and blankets could give you a perfect reason to cuddle.

If weather in North Dakota doesn’t cooperate, you can get your hearts pumping at the roller skating rink or bowling alley. It might be the perfect time to try out the indoor rock-climbing wall at your health club. Or you can dosey doe your partner at a local square dancing event.

Need more ideas?

  • Consider a day pass to your local fitness center. Try a new class such as spinning or water aerobics. Or simply swim laps.
  • Buy a private session with a fitness trainer or hire a fitness instructor to lead a personal cardio, strength or aquatics class at a local fitness center.
  • If your budget allows, plan a day getaway at a resort with skiing and snowboarding. Don’t know how? Take a class from the resort’s staff.
  • If you would rather spend your date at home, do an interactive video game where you can dance or bowl.
